What to Do Memorial Day Weekend with Your F-150

Ford Explorer | Corwin Ford | Springfield, MO

Memorial Day marks a time to remember and honor those who lost their lives while serving in the armed forces, and a time to be grateful for what those service members sacrificed protecting. What better way to honor the armed forces Memorial Day weekend by taking your family on a trip in your F-150, practicing gratitude and spending a quality family weekend together. The Ford F-150 is the favorite vehicle of America’s military and was named “the most popular vehicle among America’s active and retired military service members” this past January, so there’s no better vehicle for this particular weekend.

So, you may ask, where should you set off to in your F-150 this Memorial Day weekend? Here are a few ideas to get you planning.

  • Take the family to a Memorial Day parade, or take the family to see extended family that you perhaps don’t get to see as often as you’d like. Three-day weekends are hard to come by, so you won’t want to let it go to waste.
  • Head to a local park, nature reserve, or beach to have a Memorial Day picnic or barbeque. You can easily pack all the food and outdoor necessities in your truck bed. If you want to travel off the beaten path a bit, luckily the F-150 has the all the off-roading capabilities you need, transporting your family safely and soundly.
  • Turn your weekend barbeque or picnic into a camping trip to kick off the summer. More likely than not, your kids will shortly be on summer break or already are, and a camping trip is the perfect way to usher in the summer months. For a bit of extra fun, lug some kayaks in your truck bed to enjoy while camping, or haul the family trailer to your favorite campground for the weekend.

From our Corwin Ford of Springfield family to yours, have a memorable Memorial Day.

Annual Show-Me Gourd Art Festival

If the team at Corwin Ford of Springfield asked you to picture an art class or workshop, you’d probably imagine a medium like paints or charcoal on some type of paper. But one Missouri group, the Show-Me Gourd Society, is on a mission to spread the word about another medium for creative expression: the gourd.

The Show-Me Gourd Society is one of several Gourd Societies across North America. Once a year, the organization hosts a weekend-long festival as a means to share their love of gourds as a medium of art, and to invite the public to join in and learn about the gourd possibilities.

The annual Show-Me Gourd Art Festival takes place this year on April 7th-8th at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds & Event Center. Admission is just $5 per adult, and children 12 and under enter for free. The weekend will be filled with gourd art workshops lead by artists from all over the country.

In addition to the workshops, there will be over 90 different classes of raw and crafted gourds in a judged competition. Members can enter their gourds, and visitors can also spend their time shopping at the many vendors who will be selling crafted gourds, gourds for crafting, books, tools, and more.

For a dealership experience just as unique as a gourd-based art festival, come visit us at Corwin Ford of Springfield, and get behind the wheel of a few vehicles with a test drive.

The Military Loves Ford and the F-150

For a long time, America’s favorite automotive brand has been Ford. And, it seems that preference is true among our military men and women, too. In a recent survey of military personnel, using data from the United Services Automobile Association’s (USAA) car buying service, it was discovered that our military loves Ford and the F-150, in particular.

For 41 years, the F-150 has been America’s best-selling truck and has been the best-selling vehicle for 36. With that reputation, it is not a surprise that military men and women love the F-150. Jimmy Spears, auto analyst for USAA, said the F-150 was the No. 1 vehicle purchased across all branches of the military last year.

“We are proud and humbled that those who protect and defend our country choose Ford F-Series,” said Todd Eckert, Ford truck group marketing manager. “F-150’s high-strength, military-grade, aluminum-alloy body is designed to serve customers who are used to performing in the harshest of environments and who rely on the capability, durability, and functionality delivered consistently by Built Ford Tough.”

The 2018 Ford F-150, which you can find here at Corwin Ford of Springfield, is the best F-150 ever. This year, it boasts an improved engine lineup, updated styling, and enhanced safety options.
